വാഷിംഗ്ടണ്‍: അമേരിക്കൻ ഇടക്കാല തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ ചരിത്രവിജയം കുറിച്ച്‌ ഡെമോക്രാറ്റിക് പാർട്ടി. റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കൻ പാർട്ടിയില്‍ നിന്ന് 41 സീറ്റുകള്‍ തിരിച്ചുപിടിച്ച ഡെമോക്രാറ്റുകള്‍ ജനപ്രതിനിധി സഭയില്‍ 250 സീറ്റുകള്‍ കടന്ന് തങ്ങളുടെ ആധിപത്യം ഉറപ്പിച്ചു. ട്രംപ് ഭരണകൂടത്തിന്റെ നിലപാടുകള്‍ക്ക് കണ്ണുമടച്ച്‌ പിന്തുണ നല്‍കിയിരുന്ന മുൻ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസിന്റെ കാലം ഇതോടെ അവസാനിച്ചെന്ന് സ്പീക്കർ സ്ഥാനാർഥി ഹക്കീം ജെഫ്രീസ് പ്രതികരിച്ചു. ലോസ് ആഞ്ചലസില്‍ ജനവിധി തേടിയ മലയാളി സ്ഥാനാർഥി നിത്യ രാമൻ നേടിയ തിളക്കമാർന്ന വിജയവും ഈ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിന്റെ പ്രധാന ആകർഷണമായി.
