Footpath encroachments will be removed; 7-day grace period

New Arrangement for Buses and Taxis

As part of curbing congestion in the town, strict restrictions were imposed on bus services and taxi vehicles:

Buses going to the inner areas of the gram panchayat should drop off people at the Vandiperiyar bus stand. The vehicle shall then be parked only at such places as may be prescribed by the Panchayat. Buses can be taken to the roadside to pick up people only at the time of commencement of service.

Buses and taxi vehicles plying on the coconut route should only pick up and drop people at the Vandiperiyar bus stand.

Bus Stand Parking: Only vehicles of those arriving at establishments and offices of Vandiperiyar Bus Stand shall be parked at the stand. All vehicles, except the taxi vehicles allowed, should be immediately removed from the bus stand premises.

These measures aim to ensure seamless travel and safety for Ayyappa devotees and local pedestrians arriving for the upcoming Sabarimala pilgrimage season. The panchayat authorities and the police informed that strict legal action will be taken against those who do not follow the instructions given by the authorities. The Traffic Committee requested the public and traders to fully cooperate with this joint action.
