Chief Minister Vijay has announced that he will bring relief and excitement to the fans of Tamil cinema. The government has allowed cinemas in the state to screen films from 6 am onwards, with a maximum of six shows per day in the first week of the release of new Tamil films. Exhibitions starting at 6 am are also allowed to continue till 2.30 am the next day.

In Tamil Nadu, morning shows were restricted following the tragedy that occurred during the release of Ajith starrer ‘Tuniw' in 2023. The government imposed stringent restrictions after the 19-year-old died during the film's release celebrations. As part of this, the first show was scheduled for 9am only.

Tamil Film Active Producers Association, Tamil Film Producers Council and Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association had approached the government seeking six-hour shock clearance.

At present, theatres in Tamil Nadu have four screenings a day. Five shows were sanctioned in the first seven days of the release of new films after Vijay took over as Chief Minister. Five exhibitions were allowed on local festivals, public holidays, and Saturdays and Sundays. With the new order, it has been increased to six.
