Malappuram: In the last seven months, heavy rains, winds and natural calamities have caused huge crop losses in Malappuram district. As per preliminary estimates by the Agriculture Department, a total loss of Rs 3.5 crore has been reported. The natural disaster directly affected 162 farmers in the district. The worst damage has been inflicted on banana farmers. As many as 55,150 bananas have been damaged in the wind and rain and a loss of Rs 3.3 crore is estimated in the sector alone.
28.2 ഹെക്ടറിലെ മരച്ചീനി കൃഷി നശിച്ച് 11.28 ലക്ഷം രൂപയുടെയും 11.28 ഹെക്ടറിലെ പച്ചക്കറി കൃഷി നശിച്ച് 5.34 ലക്ഷം രൂപയുടെയും നാശനഷ്ടമുണ്ടായി. കൂടാതെ 1.4 ഹെക്ടറിലെ നെല്കൃഷി നശിക്കുകയും ആറ് പ്രധാന നെല്ലുല്പാദന കേന്ദ്രങ്ങള്ക്ക് കേടുപാടുകള് സംഭവിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തതിലൂടെ 1.25 ലക്ഷം രൂപയുടെ നഷ്ടവും രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി. ജില്ലയില് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല് കൃഷിനാശം റിപ്പോര്ട്ട് ചെയ്തത് വേങ്ങര ബ്ലോക്കിലാണ് (1.08 കോടി). വണ്ടൂര് (51.64 ലക്ഷം), കാളികാവ് (49.6 ലക്ഷം), പരപ്പനങ്ങാടി (43.49 ലക്ഷം), കൊണ്ടോട്ടി (35.15 ലക്ഷം), മഞ്ചേരി (26.35 ലക്ഷം) എന്നീ ബ്ലോക്കുകളിലും ലക്ഷക്കണക്കിന് രൂപയുടെ വിളനാശമാണുണ്ടായത്.
